Kanagen is a tool to help beginning Japanese students learn hiragana (ひらがな, 平仮名) and katakana (カタカナ, 片仮名).

To use Kanagen, you must have Japanese character support installed on your computer.

How to use

Fill in the blanks in the "Romaji" column with transcriptions of the kana shown to the left. Incorrect answers are highlighted red, correct answers green. To show all of the answers, click "Show answers". Click "Generate new" to generate a new set of kana.

Use the options area to change the generator's parameters.
